Kedi

Here is an album from Sandeep Chowtha that is surprisingly not up-to-the-mark. Given that he has delivered hits after hits in Telugu, Kedi seems a disappointing package. Of course, there is a good song or two, but over all it fares below average. Lyrics by Chinni Charan and Krishna Chaitanya are okay, while voices of Sunidhi Chauhan, Saleem Shahida, Neha Kakkar and Sonu Kakkar are employed to good as well as poor effects.

Kedigadu: The song has good musical influences, never seeming a typical Chowtha one. May be, as many of them have aped Sandeep's style, he seems old-styled when he uses his own style here. Of course, the songs speaks about what a disastrous kedi Rummy is, but does not hold our attention much. Sunidhi Chauhan has sung the song.

Neevena: The duet sounds good, but both the male and female voices might not sink in easily. Somewhere, the duet seems a poor blend of umpteen melodies of the past and Chowtha's trademark music. It doesn't prompt a second listening. God knows if it grows on us if heard repeatedly, which is difficult to dare do. Arjit Singh and Neha Kakkar are the singers.

Eenduko Eenthaki: A melancholy song, this is the best in the album. The voice (Saleem Shahida) sounds absolutely refreshing, while the music is catchy. The musician is at his best here, inflicting on us a sense of déjà vu somewhere in the mid-way, when we hear an excellent intermezzo. The lyrics are touching, if not touchy. Rarely is the hero's internal conflict given a voice in a cool fashion in Telugu cinema, and this is one time that it has happened.

Rela Re: The song welcoming the new dawn is both good and bad. While it starts off well, it strays the mediocre path soon. Again, the voice (Sonu Kakkar) is incurably offbeat. It is difficult to say whether most listeners will find it inspiring. The mood is sure uplifting, nevertheless.

Short And Sweet: The music is, again, mediocre. Lyrics (Krishna Chaitanya's only from the album) are understandable. However, it is neither short nor sweet.

Janiye Jaane: This is another good musical in the album, with Neha Kakkar's voice and Chowtha's intermezzos making it oomphier. Music dominates a bit, but still is very soothing. And the lyricist is none other than Chowtha himself.

Kedigadu (Orchestra): Nothing different from the other version. Orchestra adds some pep, but is still avoidable.

Muddante (Remix) : Tippu and Geetha Madhuri add a soul to this otherwise so-so song. It sounds like it is going to just work magic in the hall. Sandeep's instruments are superbly on the loose. A must listen. Chinni Charan's lyrics are good too.
